Lights & Sirens
International is acutely aware of the systemic racism that continues to plague
our country. We personally feel the profound pain and grief that it causes and
see the direct affects it has on all members of our community. It’s
understandable there is much to be done on a national level while recognizing
the stronger need to address this at the local level. Our program is designed
to encourage students and public safety personnel to be active participants in
understanding the others perspective through cultural exposure in an effort to
enable growth socially and intellectually while engaging in physical activity
to kick-off National Police Week.

 What is the purpose of
National Police Week?

Established by a joint
resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition
to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty
for the safety and protection of others. This event will provide a symbolic
opportunity that will serve as an example of the type of programs that brings
together community and public safety partners. The goal is for all participants
to enjoy our time together, recognize our similarities, genuinely discuss
concerns, and foster meaningful relationships. While the path to progress is
neither clear nor simple, our future depends on the actions we take today.
