  • In 1919 - Fritz Pollard becomes the first black to play Professional football for a major team, the Akron Indians. Pollard was also the first Black to play in the Rose Bowl
  • In 2019 - Chicago native Emmerson Buie Jr named as new FBI special-agent-in-charge of the Chicago FBI Division, becoming the first African American to hold the position

To Inspire You

I think that the dialogue between police officers and the black community has to get better, but not better in a way where, 'Oh, let's talk about it when something horrible happens.' The dialogue has to be going on consistently, every day.
